How does BLIK work? It allows you to pay in stationary and online stores, withdraw cash from ATMs and send money to telephone numbers. Below you will find detailed information about the service that Poles love.
How does BLIK work and how to activate it?
It is a mobile payment system owned by Polski Standard Płatności (PSP). How does BLIK work? It allows you to make payments using a banking application installed on your smartphone. To use BLIK, you must activate this service in your bank's application. It's a very simple process - just log in, search for the BLIK section and follow the instructions. Usually, this only requires accepting the regulations and confirming activation with a PIN code or fingerprint.
Banks offering BLIK
BLIK is available in the mobile applications of most banks operating on the Polish market. These include, among others: PKO BP, Pekao, mBank, ING, Millennium, Santander, Alior, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Getin Bank, Bank BPS, SGB and many others.
How to pay with BLIK in a stationary store?
One of the main functions of BLIK is the ability to pay for purchases in stationary stores. The process goes as follows:
At the checkout, you inform the seller that you want to pay with BLIK.
In the banking application, you generate a 6-digit BLIK code.
You enter the generated seller code.
The seller enters the code into the payment terminal.
In the banking application, you accept the transaction by entering the PIN code or confirming with your fingerprint.
A newer option is the ability to pay with BLIK contactless, just like with a contactless payment card. To use it, you must have a smartphone with the NFC function and the BLIK contactless payment service activated in the banking application. Remember to set it as the default option for paying by phone. The BLIK contactless payment process is as follows:
You inform the person at the cash register that you will pay contactless, and if you use an unattended cash register, do not change the option to BLIK payments (the system will then expect you to enter the code).
You unlock the smartphone screen (e.g. with a PIN code or fingerprint).
You hold your smartphone against the payment terminal.
The transaction is automatically approved.
How does BLIK work for online payments?
BLIK also allows you to make payments in online stores. The process is slightly different than in the case of stationary stores. When finalizing purchases in the online store, you must select the "Pay with BLIK" option and then generate a 6-digit BLIK code in the banking application. The buyer enters it on the store's website and then accepts the transaction by entering the PIN code or confirming with a fingerprint.
Recurring BLIK payments
BLIK also allows you to set up recurring payments, e.g. for bills or subscriptions. Thanks to this, you don't have to remember to pay your liabilities manually each time. To set up a recurring BLIK payment, enter the appropriate section of the banking application, select the service for which you want to pay periodically, and then accept the setting of the recurring payment. Currently, this service is available only in two banks - ING and PKO Bank.
How to send money to someone with BLIK?
One of the most popular functions of BLIK is the ability to send money to phone numbers. The process looks like this:
In the banking application, select the "BLIK mobile transfer" option.
You select the transfer recipient from the contact list or enter his phone number manually.
You enter the transfer amount.
You accept the transfer by entering the PIN code or confirming with your fingerprint.
The money is immediately transferred to the recipient's account linked to their phone number. To be able to receive BLIK transfers, the recipient must have this service activated in his bank's application.
Cash withdrawal with BLIK from an ATM
BLIK also allows you to withdraw cash from ATMs without using a payment card. Just select the "BLIK withdrawal" option, generate the code in the banking application and enter it at the ATM. Now just enter the amount to be withdrawn and finally accept the transaction in the banking application.
BLIK security
BLIK is considered one of the safest mobile payment methods. This is due to several factors:
each BLIK transaction must be approved with a PIN code or fingerprint in the banking application;
BLIK codes are unique and valid only for 2 minutes;
BLIK does not require providing payment card details or logging in to online banking;
BLIK transactions are encrypted and protected by bank security systems.
Thanks to these safeguards, the risk of fraud or data theft during BLIK payments is minimal.
This convenient mobile payment method has gained enormous popularity in Poland. It allows you to make payments in stationary and online stores, withdraw cash from ATMs and send money to telephone numbers. How does BLIK work? The system is simple and intuitive - it only requires activating the service in the banking application and confirming the transaction with a PIN code or fingerprint. This makes BLIK not only convenient, but also safe and protects against potential fraud.
